Good Old Driving Instructor Is Back...... :) - 25th Aug 2006

This is again about one of the driving classes.

My friend had to get his car the next day and he had his mind so full of full of things like – registration, insurance, music system to be bought and so on……. – that he was making small mistakes here and there while driving. The instructor noticed this and was wondering why there were so many mistakes and realized it was lack of concentration and the instructor just began a small chat and found the reason why. The instructor was then trying to get my friend’s concentration back onto the driving.

He said – ‘When you come to the driving class, leave all your tensions, worries and problems at home and come. Don’t bring them here along with you. Because if you carry your tensions, worries and problems and bring them here, you are bound to make mistakes’

I just sat thinking about what the instructor had just said – If you carry your burdens, problems, tensions around, you are bound to make mistakes.

How true this is!!!

We were designed to bring all our worries, problems, everything to God. Lay them at His feet and continue on our way. But if we decided (contrary to the way we were made to be), to carry them all around with us, then we are bound to make mistakes.

But if we leave them with God (who is more than happy to carry them for us), we receive His peace and His joy and God is all-powerful to turn these problems into blessings for us. Isn’t this wonderful?!

We lose out on His peace and His joy when we decide to keep worrying and we also end up annoying God. Leaving our problems at His feet is a way of saying God – ‘God, I trust you’. But when we don’t do that we are telling God – ‘God, I don’t trust you’. Probably one reason God was annoyed with the Israelites was because they always went back on trusting him. It’s best to trust Him to please Him and to also earn His peace, His joy and His love in my life.

Remember, if you carry your problems around, you are bound to make mistakes.

Another song I learnt at School goes this way:

Are you tired of chasing pretty rainbows?
And are you tired of spinning round and round?
Wrap up all the shattered dreams of your life
And at the feet of Jesus lay them down

Give them all, Give them all
Give them all to Jesus
Shattered dreams, wounded hearts and broken toys
Give them all, Give them all
Give them all to Jesus
And he will turn your sorrows into Joy.

He never said you’d only see sunshine
He never said there’d be no rain
He only promised a heartful of singing
About the very thing that once brought pain

Psalm 68:19:19Blessed be the Lord, Who bears our burdens and carries us day by day, even the God Who is our salvation! Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! (AMP)

19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Selah (NIV)
